
Creating the Beckington Neighbourhood Plan


The plan will be produced by the Steering Group in six stages. A full guide to producing a neighbourhood plan can be found in the link below.
Stage 1: Getting established

Establish a Steering Group to create the plan.

Raise awareness to the residents of the Beckington Parish.

Draft and approve the Terms of Reference.

Identify local and strategic stakeholders.

Publish the Project Plan.
Stage 2: Identify Issues

Community engagement.

Evidence gathering.

Identify key issues in the area.
Stage 3: Aims, Visions and Objectives

Assess and predict the social, environmental and physical trends affecting Beckington Parish.

Draft an intent to create a positive impact on the area.

Address any weaknesses in the Parish boundaries and create a vision.

Publish the plan's aims, visions and objectives.
Stage 4: Prepare Draft Plan

Utilise feedback from discussion groups with Parish residents.

Utilise feedback from discussions with local businesses.

Draft the Neighbourhood Plan.
Stage 5: Submit the Plan

Submit the plan along with all supporting documents.

The plan is reviewed to ensure that all legal requirements have been followed.
Stage 6: Post-submission Formal Requirements

An independent examiner assesses the Neighbourhood Plan.

Any necessary modifications are discussed and the plan is updated where necessary.

A referendum takes place to vote on on the Neighbourhood Plan. The entire plan will be available for all to read.

A 50% vote will ensure the plan passes and becomes part of the statutory development plan for the Beckington Parish.
